Destination Wedding inside a Castle, Benest France // A&E

I still cant believe I had the opportunity to photograph Amanda and Eric’s wedding in Benest, France in a castle called Chateau De La Borderie; The castle was renovated with modern touches but is still equipped with beautiful 19th century decor pieces. The entire estate property can accommodate 94 people with the addition of the cottage which is incredible (Imagine having that many friends/family come to France to celebrate your wedding?!). A dream come true!

I was blown away with the care and hospitality of the staff, and all the vendors involved. The managers made sure to take care of every little detail that day - nothing gone amiss. The food was some of the best and freshest I’ve ever tasted (which is no surprise because Eric works at Langdon Hall in Cambridge ON and which is known for their award winning cuisine. The wedding reception took place outside the front of the castle; As the sun set, the speeches filled the air up with laughter and happy tears as bottles of Moet and Chandon were passed around. Lanterns were passed around to guests to make wishes about love that evening. The party that evening included some pool hangs, and midnight instant ramen (best.idea.ever!). I eventually put down my camera that evening and hung out till 4am when my bus arrived, leaving with some new dance moves and some delicious sandwiches for my 3 hour drive back to Paris.

I also loved being able to document adventure days leading up to the wedding as well ~ It’s one of my favorite things about destination weddings! I include it in my package because 1. I love exploring and getting to know a city, 2. because I like that I get to know everyone prior to the wedding day, and 3. because how many times do you have a photographer documenting you and your favorite people going on adventures? I find value in providing these memories to my couples <3 The group of us ended up exploring Cognac, France; and yep you guessed it, we went to a couple of distilleries to try some of the best Cognac’s in the world! (see the slideshow for photos of these moments).

Amanda and Eric’s wedding day was definitely one for the books and a trip I’ll always remember. I hope to get back there soon.
