These two Chicagonians (not sure if that’s the word for people who live in Chicago but I’m going for it) got married at the Broadview Hotel in Toronto, one of my favorite venues in the city (it’s also a 5min walk from niece lives, so I love being able to snuggle her for 10 minutes before working for the day - It’s the best way to start the day IMO. The whole day from start to finish was infused with the best energy from all of their friends and family. I think its such a nice gesture when everyone makes sure that we photographers feel as if we’re part of the wedding day, versus being an outsider looking in; this is exactly how Hilary & Max’s friends made me feel that day & it allowed me to capture more of the emotions & candid moments happening between people.
One other thing I wanted to emphasize for couples that want some photos of the getting ready portion of the day is to rent a room from a boutique hotel that has some great natural light. I loved the Broadview room Hilary got for her and her bridesmaids - photographing bridal portraits are one of my favorite things to do in the day, and so getting to create some images in an interesting cool space allows for more creativity.
Here are a list of the vendors I worked with that day. Hilary & the rest of her family made all of the invitations, decor and floral arrangements (this includes the donut wall, the beautiful arch during the ceremony, the centrepieces, bouquets, invitations etc).
